Hi,

I am using dnn core 4.8.4 and forum version 04.05.03 . Whenever i add a subforum via the forum admin panel and then come back out of that screen to view the forum , it will not display the subforums. I have to go into the parent forum and then out again and then it will change the icon o the parent forum to the folder icon and show its subforums. Even then it shows the subforums all as one word (not comma seperated). I have to go into host setting and restart the ap everytime for this to work properly.

also have to restart the app to view the forum manager (when i click on forum manager it shows a blank page).

My latest problem which i am more concerned about right now is that i created some test threads and replies, and then logged in again and deleted them. However, when viewing the list of forums (forum home page) it sill shows these posts as existing in the stats next to the forum names. I have tried clesring the browser cache, restarting the app but it wont go away. Next to the stats it has a link to the last post (which is deleted) and when i clcik on it it says tried to go to the page and gives an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' error.

My forum cache setting value is set to 0.

Please help, any help is most appreciated.

I am aware of the forum/sub-forum caching issue, although I don't consider it a major thing considering most people don't do this type of thing very often (it has no financial impact nor does it affect most users, thus it is low priority at best). This doesn't mean it should be ignored, I just think it isn't that major.

As for your second issue, I can't really repeat this one. I can tell you it has nothing to do with the browser cache and I am not sure why the deleted post/thread is showing as the last post (the error you get is expected, you just shouldn't be seeing it). I can add to this, the module should have its cache time set to -1.

Thanks for the reply.
Could the second issue be caused as a result of not deleting things in the correct order, e.g. deleting a forum completely rather than deleting all the posts threads inside it first ? Or deleting a thread without deleting the posts inside it first ? I think i did one of these, could this leave behind this mess?

Maybe I misunderstood the situation. Are you saying that when you delete a forum that if it contained the last post in a group, the group still showed this? I didn't think about it before but this would make sense given the caching issues you saw with the sub-forum are also group related. Please confirm this is the issue.

No sorry that's not what i meant. My deleted posts are showing up in the stats next to the forum, and also on the forum home page the last post has the link to the last post, but that has been deleted. I think i deleted a thread which contained more than 1 post in it without deleting the posts themselves. If you have multiple posts within a thread and delete the thread itself does this cause a mess, i.e. some posts still show up in the forum stats ?
What else do you think could solve this problem please ?
